ATI’s intervention named ’Economic Empowerment of Women through Livelihood Augmentation and Promoting Gender Rights’ improves the economic condition of the women, making them aware of their rights and ensuring benefits of government schemes. The IM collaboration project aims to make women and youth economically empowered through increased skills and knowledge, strengthened community level civil society organisations to advocate for their rights and claim their right to economic inclusion. The project is focused on training rights holders in income generating activities such as honey and dairy farming, thereby involving the people in the whole value chain for sustainable backward and forward linkages.
Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA)
CBGA is an independent non-profit organisation enhancing transparency and accountability in governance through rigorous analysis of policies and budgets and fostering people’s participation in public policy processes by demystifying them. It works with the mandate to promote transparent, accountable and participatory governance, and a people-centred perspective in preparation and implementation of budgets in India.
Kiran
Kiran in collaboration with IM works on the inclusion of the socially excluded Children with Different Ability (CwDA). The project intends to empower and strengthen civil society organizations like school management committees, parent groups and community based organisations and advocating inclusive education facilities through Kiran’s learning and dissemination of good practices in collaboration with state governments. The project strives to influence government to adopt essential changes in curriculum, training of teachers and budget allocation toward making schools inclusive for children with special needs.
Maximising Employment to Serve the Handicapped
In their projects MESH focuses on strengthening the production skills of producers’ groups formed by people with disability and those affected by leprosy. The intervention includes skill up-gradation, product diversification, value addition, awareness of rights etc. of producers enabling economic self-sufficiency of rights holders. The project also emphasizes training in Fair Trade principles of the rights holders to uphold right and dignity of the producers. The project promotes sustainability of producers groups by strengthening their democratic values, good governance and strong internal systems.
Mount Valley Development Association
IM works with partner Mount Valley Development Association, MVDA in the northern-most Indian state of Uttarakhand where there is a need to integrate women into innovative farming practices for sustainable livelihood. The intervention economically and socially empowers marginalised women in the hilly areas by addressing social and income inequalities that restricts them from exercising their rights and improving their living conditions.
By raising awareness about gender equality, helping women access government entitlements and initiating market linkages, our intervention reduces incidences of gender discrimination at the ground level. The MVDA intervention also systematises environmental sustainable and climate resilient farming practices and raises awareness about climate adaptation and mitigation strategies among targeted communities.
National Alliance of Women
An offshoot of Beijing Conference ( 1995 ) National Alliance of Women (NAWO) is a network of women whose affiliation/membership is open to all progressive women’s groups and institutions, women workers, individual women who share the principle, objectives and value of NAWO. NAWO envisions a gender just, democratic and humane society where women and men can in partnership fulfil their responsibilities to build a peaceful and sustainable future. NAWO represents as one of the single largest national alliance that has centre staged critical issues of women, especially women from marginalized communities and in particular, the Dalits, Adivasis and religious minorities. It believes that women rights are human rights and thus has been nurturing and capacitating women human rights defenders. Another area where NAWO is working since its inception is for equal participation of women in governance system.
SAMVAD
SAMVAD is founded by a group of people who rely more on collective efforts. It is committed to promote sustainable community based resource management and is involved in participatory action and research for Self-Rule and Self-reliant society. ‘SAMVAD’ provides collective platform to the Identity, Art and Culture. It is an initiative for collectivity, gender equality, community rights on natural resources and establishment of a people’s democracy through collective action. SAMVAD was established in 2001. It believes that development is a sustainable process. It is operational in 16 districts of Jharkhand state.
Sarba Shanti Ayog
Based out of Kolkata, Sarba Shanti Ayog works intensively to demonstrate and instil the Fair Trade standards of equity, transparency, capacity building, empowerment, social security and environmental sustainability at all levels of its supply chain. And within its IM partnership model, SSA works with the small, disadvantaged and marginalized producer and grassroots organizations across India by enabling their capacity-building.
The producer groups are given extensive training on knowledge inputs and resources in areas of design, technical know-how, networking support and facilitate market access. Women and youth are the targeted rights holders of the project. It promotes and strengthens civil society and advocates for the small producers, craft sector and Fair Trade principles as a whole through networking and collaboration with like-minded organisations.
Shramajivi Mahila Samity (SMS)
Shramajivi Mahila Samity (SMS) operates in Jharkhand, one of the poorest state in India. Together with SMS, we work for social and economic inclusion of single women and women from excluded community. SMS’s vision is to empower women through education, economic independence, and leadership skills in order to create a balanced and just society that provides equal opportunities for both genders.
Srijan Foundation
Srijan Foundation is a not-for-profit NGO founded in 1995 by a group of socially committed young professionals to work towards the welfare of the disadvantaged and the underprivileged and a positive response to build capacity of the community and the grass root organizations. It was formally registered in 2001. The organization seeks to accomplish this by extending need based capacity support to individuals, NGOs and Civil Societies promoting innovative approaches, models and building support at community levels through focused and integrated efforts. Srijan Foundation is directly engaged in Gender issues and Social Behavior Change Communication in 10 districts of Jharkhand. Over the last two decades, it has been working determinedly to bring about qualitative behavioural change and impact lives of more than a 100,000 people through its direct and indirect interventions. Its bottom- up approach of inclusive development has changed the lives of many and has led the path in sustainable progress.
Voluntary Action Network India
VANI is a platform, which promotes voluntarism and creates space for voluntary action. As a network, it attempts to bring about a convergence of common sectoral issues and concerns for building a truly National agenda of voluntary action in the country. It also facilitates linkages of various efforts and initiatives of the voluntary sector in the country for a multiplier effect, to create and sustain the process of change in an organic manner.
