According to the horrific television images, Israeli police entered the funeral procession to take down Palestinian flags. They struck with batons and the coffin bearers were close to dropping the coffin.

The reason as stated by the Israeli authorities is that the Palestinians shouted nationalist slogans.

This is unacceptable in a country that calls itself democratic.

This is disrespectful and unworthy.

Unfortunately, this is just another example of how little respect the Israeli government shows the Palestinians, whose land they have occupied.

Sweden’s Foreign Minister Ann Linde writes that she is “shocked by the violent scenes” and that it is “important to reduce tensions”.

As if they were two equal parties.

The statement did not condemn the action.

Sweden must do better.

It is astonishing and outrageous how little the so-called world community reacts to these constant Israeli abuses of the Palestinian people.

For the attack on the funeral train is just one in a series of abuses and violence that more and more organisations call apartheid.
